I get so lost sometimes in my own emptiness.
~ Sam, October 31, 1989
You forget that your heart is displaced and rootless, so you try to find your way forward as if it were not. But you wander, circle the same ground, and lose your way from here to there. Even when you map the reasons for the tangle, your attempts to understand where you are do not help you to accept your diminished sense of direction.
But faith can be your orientation,
that frame of mind based on not knowing where you are or what lies ahead,
combined with the willingness to go forward anyway. When your heart
is aligned with this cardinal point, the discomfort of being lost will
be soothed by the pure ease of trusting that wherever you are is okay.
