about me...

I am an associate professor and professor-in-charge of the instructional systems program at Penn State University. I came to Penn State as an Assistant Professor in 1997. Prior to that time, I held a faculty position at University of Oklahoma's Department of Educational Psychology and a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Georgia's Learning and Performance Support Laboratory. I earned my doctorate in 1995 from The Florida State University.

My research has focused on design of open-ended, student-centered learning environments and strategies for promoting cognitive engagement in these contexts.
