Research Assistant Information and RequirementsCurrent research in our lab focuses on the effects of hormonal and genetic influences on gender development. Current data collection is part of a longitudinal study examining the effects of prenatal sex hormones on the development of sex-typed behaviors such as toy play, playmate preference, interest in babies, and spatial ability. Planned studies include further examination of gender development in tomboys and in typical children. We are also beginning a study of masculinity and femininity in college students. Research assistants will receive Research Project (PSY 494) credits. Generally, one hour of credit is given for every three hours of work per week, although actual hours worked may vary. A minimum time commitment of at least 10 hours per week for at least three semesters is required. You will gain knowledge about gender development and hormone-behavior relations, as well as valuable research skills. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in learning more about human neuroscience or developmental psychology in preparation for graduate school. |
