In addition to asking whether girls with CAH had more "boy-typical" interests than girls without CAH, we asked whether they also had fewer "girl-typical" interests (besides play). And to do this, we asked parents a number of questions about their children's interest in babies, pets, and elderly people.
On average, girls and women are more interested in babies than are boys and men, but there are no sex differences in interest in pets and elderly people. We found that girls with CAH are less interested in babies than are girls without CAH.
We again note three important points about these results. First, the interest in babies of girls with CAH is in between that of girls and boys without CAH. Second, there is variation among the girls, so some girls with CAH are as interested in babies as girls without CAH and some girls without CAH are not very interested in babies. Third, even though there are differences between the groups, many children have at least some interest in babies.
