| 1965 B.Eng (hons) | Faculty of Engineering Science Department of Electrical Engineering, Liverpool University , UK. Systems, Control and Computer Engineering with a Mathematics Emphasis |
| 1971 Ph.D. | Council for National Academic Awards, ( London ), UK Thesis Title: Advanced Analysis of Fluid Control Systems for Nuclear Reactors. Research Administration: The degree was awarded in recognition of a five- year program of exploratory research undertaken at the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), the University of Manchester , and Liverpool Polytechnic, now John Moores University . Research Program: The project involved the conception, design, construction and analysis of an intelligent control system for optimal pattern generation of a fluidic control system for a prototype fast reactor. A small clock-less processing unit was constructed to generate the control patterns in response to a power demand signal. Supervisors were Professor Ronald Ackroyd (UKAEA and Imperial College , London ) and Dr Peter Price ( University of Manchester ). External examiner was Professor D. C. Leslie of Queen Mary College London. |
