is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a long time Member of the ACM and
ASEE.
Dr. Russell
is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered IT
Professional.
Dr. Russell
is Associate Editor for the Americas of the International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing
Technology.
Dr.
Russell is an executive member of the Mechatronics Forum - which is a
European body that operates under the auspices of the prestigious Institution
of Mechanical Engineers in London . The forum sponsors a bi-annual conference
that has been held in Sweden , Turkey , Holland , US and the UK . The forum also
offers student awards and “Prestige Lectures” and serves to
promote the
integration of electrical, mechanical and computer engineering.
Dr.
Russell was vice-chair of the IFAC Technical Committee on Applications of
Artificial Intelligence to Real-time control, and is active in this
organization that offers conferences and symposia on a worldwide basis in
collaboration with professional societies such as IEEE, IEE etc.
Dr
Russell is a member of the IFIP WG 5.11 on Computers
and the Environment based in Germany .
Dr. Russell
has personally organized five 3-day conferences and serves on the
International Program Committees of many international events held world-wide.
His focus has been in supporting emerging IEEE Workshops in Brazil , China
Singapore and the UK . These are usually in intelligent manufacturing,
real-time software, and mechatronics.
Dr.
Russell regularly referees papers for a variety of scholarly journals , including:
