Henri Michaux, With Mescaline At its limits, language shatters and shreds, "failing" to respond to the force of experience. The result is usually pretty funny. This course will investigate, experiment, with and encounter this alleged failure in the work of community and aesthetics in the hopes of forging rhetorics reponsible to and productive of ecstasy , laughter and panic. Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Ethnographic. literary , philosophical and scientific texts will form the contours of our archive.
