Creating IES files from LUXICON.

1. Run Luxicon from the LIGHTING program group. You will receive a message that states that the Luxicon CD was not found (this is OK). Hit CANCEL at this message.

2. Click on the Electronic Catalog.

3.Click to box on the top of the column at the right of the screen which says COOPER SEARCH.

4. Select a brand name from the pull-down menu.

5. Enter other appropriate information, such as the product line, a portion of the catalog number, number of lamps, source type, etc..

6. Click on SEARCH, then after the program displays the number of luminaires found which match your criteria, click on the SEARCH RESULTS tab.

7. Scroll through the list of luminaires, clicking on any of them will display the photometric curves for that luminaire. Click on REPORT to view the information stored in the IES file for that luminaire. (Note: Do not click on the VIEW SPEC SHEET icon since the CD-ROM must be present for this action to function properly).

8. When you find the luminaire that you wish to use, you will need to copy the necessary information to the Lithonia Photometric Editor if you wish to use it with another program. The name, lamp lumens, number of lamps, number and listing of the horizontal and vertical photometric angles are required, and the actual candela values must be noted. It is perhaps easiest to copy the luminaire catalog number and candela values through COPY and PASTE to an Excel spreadsheet, while making a note of the other values. The candela values can be copied as a group along with the photometric angles by highlighting them, then pressing CRTL-C for COPY. Once in Excel, use CRTL-V to PASTE.

9. Once you have copied these to Excel, open the Lithonia Photometric Editor, open a NEW FILE, then enter the number of lamps, lumens per lamp, luminaire dimensions, and the photometric angles, plus any other necessary information (for most other reports, the remainder are optional).

10. At the next screen, you will be required to enter a test report number (make one up if necessary), the luminaire manufacturer, and the catalog number. These can be copied from the Excel spreadsheet or from Luxicon.

11. Go to the tab lable CANDELA VALUES, then go to the Excel spreadsheet, highlight only the candela values (no angles) that were obtained from Luxicon, copy them (CRTL-C), then go back to the Photometric Editor and PASTE them (CTRL-V). Verify that the angles have been placed in the appropriate cells.

12. To save your new IES Format file, click on file, then SAVE AS. Save the information to either your personal space, Drive A, or to the C:\TEMP directory. You now have an IES file that can be used with any other program.
