Creating IES files from LUMEN-MICRO.

1. Enter Lumen-Micro from the LIGHTING program group.

2. Go to FILE, then NEW. Click on ADD, then ROOM. Accept the given room size.

3. Click on ADD, then LUMINAIRE.

4. Select the LIBRARY icon to access Lumen-Micro's photometric library.

5. Use the pull-down menus to select a manufacturer, then select information from the other search categories, if possible, then click on SEARCH DATABASE(S) (NOTE: Many of the other categories do not work for most manufacturers and must be set to ALL or no luminaires are found.)

6. Find the luminaire that you need, then click on PHOTOMETRY. Most of the luminaires do not have information available in the other categories. Copy the information related to the number of lamps, lamp lumens etc., along with the angles and candela values by highlighting them, then pressing CRTL-C. The luminaire dimensions should be recorded on a piece of paper, since these aren't listed in the lower window from which you are copying informaiton. Open an Excel Spreadsheet, then paste them using CRTL-V.

7. Once you have copied these to Excel, open the Lithonia Photometric Editor, open a NEW FILE, then enter the number of lamps, lumens per lamp, luminaire dimensions, and the photometric angles, plus any other necessary information (for most other reports, the remainder are optional).

8. At the next screen, you will be required to enter a test report number (make one up if necessary), the luminaire manufacturer, and the catalog number. These can be copied from the Excel spreadsheet or from Luxicon.

9. Go to the tab lable CANDELA VALUES, then go to the Excel spreadsheet, highlight only the candela values (no angles) that were obtained from Luxicon, copy them (CRTL-C), then go back to the Photometric Editor and PASTE them (CTRL-V). Verify that the angles have been placed in the appropriate cells.

10. To save your new IES Format file, click on file, then SAVE AS. Save the information to either your personal space, Drive A, or to the C:\TEMP directory. You now have an IES file that can be used with any other program.
