Elements of French Grammar
To download EFG:
If you have a MAC:
° Launch your FTP program (such as Fetch).
° Enter the following
information:
host: ftp://ftp.cac.psu.edu/
UserID: anonymous
Password: (you
can leave this blank)
Directory:
/pub/ets/lingua/mac/
° You should see the following two
files:
Install
Lingua.hqx
Install_Elements_of_Fr._Grammar.hqx
° Copy both of these files to your hard
drive.
° Quit your FTP program.
° Go to your hard drive and double-click
on the Install Lingua file. Follow the instructions to install Lingua.
°
Next, double-click on the Install Elements of French Grammar file. Follow the
instructions to install EFG.
° If you accepted the defaults during
installation, both programs should now reside, fully installed, in folders named
respectively LINGUA and Elements of French Grammar on your hard drive.
° Stay
up all night using the program and impress Pierre with your knowledge.
If you have a WINDOWS machine:
° Create two folders on your hard drive; call them EFG DL1 and EFG DL2.
°
Launch your FTP program (such as WS_FTP).
° Enter the following
information:
host: ftp://ftp.cac.psu.edu/
UserID: anonymous
Password: (you
can leave this blank)
Directory:
/pub/ets/lingua/windows/utility
° You should see the following four
files:
lingua.001
lingua.002
lingua.asu
setup.exe
° Copy all
four files to the EFG DL1 folder on your hard drive.
° Change to the
directory: /pub/ets/lingua/windows/efg
° You should see the following three
files:
efg.001
efg.asu
setup.exe
° Copy all
three files to the EFG DL2 folder on your hard drive.
° Quit your FTP
program.
° On your computer, open the EFG DL1 folder and run the setup.exe
program. Follow the instructions to install Lingua.
° Next, open the EFG DL2
folder on your computer and run the setup.exe program. Follow the instructions
to install Elements of French Grammar.
° If you accepted the defaults during
installation, both programs should now reside, fully installed, in a folder
named LINGUA on your hard drive.
° Change your major to French, move to the
outskirts of Paris, open up a vineyard, and invite your friends.
