Grandma O's Placek Recipe



Here's my Grandma Odziemiec's recipe for a Polish coffee cake, or placek, that appeared in the Buffalo Courier-Express in the mid-1970s. I have a handwritten copy of the recipe that is substantially the same. You can use the rind of a lemon instead of lemon extract. Try adding a dash orf freshly grated nutmeg. Raisins are another good addition.
