Railroads in the United States Since 1826. M. C. Hallberg, Nov 24, 2002 This is a DOS program that can be executed from DOS or can be placed on your desktop and executed as any other Windows program. In either mode, the data file, RAILROAD.DAT, is of course required. If the latter file is not on the same directory as is the EXE program, the program will prompt for the current location of RAILROAD.DAT. The data file was generated as described in the hard copy Introduction to the railroad database that accompanies the disk. I suggest you create a subdirectory called RAILROAD and copy the EXE file as well as the DAT file to this directory. If you want to execute the program from your desktop, follow these steps: Go to Windows Explorer. Select the RAILROAD folder. RIGHT click on RAILROAD.EXE and drag to your desktop. Exit Windows Explorer, then LEFT click on the RAILROAD icon. Select Properties from the Options list. Select the Screen option. I recommend activating the full screen option. If you anticipate generating files from the program, and if you want these files to go to a subdirectory other than RAILROAD, type the desired subdirectory name in the WORKING blank. Select the Program option. Select Change Icon and select the icon of your preference.
