TOLERANCE MANAGEMENT FOR PRODUCT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING
by
E.A. Lehtihet, Ph.D.

- COURSE OBJECTIVE
Designers invariably translate product functional and assembly requirements into prints of exact geometry augmented by material, surface, and dimensioning and tolerancing specifications. Shape and specifications play a critical role in the functional aptitude, producibility, assembly, inspection and ultimate cost of the product. This two-day workshop provides an introduction to the comprehensive treatment of principles of tolerance management for the design, manufacture, assembly, and inspection of discrete components.
- WHAT WILL YOU GAIN ?
- Understand the tolerance linkages between product and process and their impact on the producibility of mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
- Discover a set of 10 fundamental principles of tolerance management and apply them to evaluate the producibility of a design and its specifications.
- Experience the application of key functional tolerancing tools and techniques to the design of assemblies and their components.
- Perform important tolerance control actions for the planning and execution of machining operations.
- Learn fundamental principles of functional gage design and the use of CMM’s for the control of tolerances of size and geometry.
- WHO SHOULD ATTEND ?
Managers in charge of concurrent engineering implementation, new product and process development, design details, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
Engineers and Technical Staff working in product and process development, design details, process planning, machining, tooling design, and metrology.
Corporate Training and Development personnel in charge of training need assessment, and training program development, implementation and delivery.
