I was the faculty adviser to two honor societies that are open to top students in the HR&IM, HDFS and nutrition majors.  Those honor societies are Kappa Omicron Nu and Phi Upsilon Omicron.  From the links to our local chapter web pages you may reach the web sites of the national honor societies.

I served on the board of the Central Pennsylvania Dietetic Association (a district association of the PA Dietetic Assn) as the manager of the CPDA-L listserv.  It is a membership benefit available to all members of the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association.  To subscribe, send an email message to listserv@lists.psu.edu .  In the body of the message write nothing except:

subscribe CPDA-L  yourfirstname yourlastname RD  or other way you can be identified

Those who request to be subscribed will then get a message asking for some information so your  PADA membership can be verified; then the subscription will be completed.

In addition, I created and manage a listserv for all nutrition/dietetic students, recent graduates and dietetic interns in PA.  To subscribe a student, graduate or intern should send an email message to listserv@lists.psu.edu .  In the body of the message write nothing except:

subscribe Student-PADA yourfirstname yourlastname

Those who request to be subscribed will then get a message from me asking for some information before I complete the subscription.  I  post mentoring messages related to becoming an RD and job possibilities for those with a BS (but not necessarily the RD) on the listserv.  I hope students will use the listserv to network with each other.  I encourage nutrition students to join the American Dietetic Association as associate members.  In addition to many other professional benefits of membership, if they select the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association as their state affiliation, they will be allowed to subscribe to the Central Pennsylvania Dietetic Association listserv.
