Grading Criteria

Attendance:     10 points x 10 of 13 classes beginning Sept. 16 = 100 points maximum

This class is a demonstration of your professionalism in ethics and attitude.  Please sign in next to your printed name on the posted sheet.  By your signature on attendance sheet you indicate your presence in class.  If you arrive 5 or more minutes late please write “L” by your name.  If you leave early please e-mail that information to me as soon as possible.  Forgery of a signature on an attendance sheet is grounds for a grade of F.   "Save" at least one of your 3 "free" cuts in case of illness because the only excused absence is to attend ADA FNCE on Oct. 21.

 Assignments:    5 points x 4 assignments + 10 points x 13 assignments = 150 points maximum

 Quizzes: 10 points x 15 quizzes = 150 points maximum

Every week there will be a 5-item true/false or multiple choice, open book quiz covering the reading assignment of the week. (Q 14 and 15 have questions on ethics, legislative classes and negotiation.)  Although the quizzes are open book, you are expected to answer the questions on your own.  This is not a group project.

The quizzes will typically become available on the web (URL will be provided) one week prior to the deadline at midnight on the date indicated.  You have a full week to take each test so allow time for last-minute problems.  For the reading assignments that are on the web, I suggest that you open a new window with the relevant web page  so you can flip back and forth between the web quiz and the web articles.

 Instructions for Quiz Wizard
Go to http://wizard.cac.psu.edu/qw/takequiz.pl on the web and logon with your access account ID and password. First select a course (NUTR 370), then select a quiz to take (Quiz 1 or 2 or whatever), and finally click 'Take Quiz.' The directions for actually taking the quiz are written at length in the "help" section, but I think most should be self explanatory. Please email me if you have a problem.

Final grade based on 400 total points

Academic Integrity is the pursuit of scholarly activity free from fraud and deception.  Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating, plagiarizing, fabricating of information or citations, facilitating acts of academic dishonesty by others, having unauthorized possession of examinations, submitting work of another person or work previously used or concurrently used in another class without informing the instructor, or tampering with the academic work of other students.  Work on the quizzes and assignments for this course should be done independently and should not be the result of discussions with others, unless specified by the instructor. The usual punishment for academic dishonesty is an "F" for the course or a lesser penalty if the alleged infraction is of a more minor nature.
