Professor of Landscape Architecture

Frisian cow and me

Welcome.
Here you'll find an overview of my work in
landscape architecture and spatial planning.
I focus on ecological applications in design and
planning,
riparian urbanism, green networks, novel
ecosystems, and co-design with underserved
communities.
Since 2005 I've collaborated on action research
in south Asia and sub-Sahara Africa that fosters community / landscape co-resilience in the face of climate change and globalization. During my recent sabbatical I explored convivial greenstreets.
I teach several studios, seminars, and field
courses, with an emphasis on community-engaged design.
