Goal/Purpose:

The Proposed Academic Standards for Science and Technology, state the following Standard (3.3.10) Grade 10:

A. Explain the structural and functional similarities and differences found among living things.

B. Describe and explain the chemical and structural basis of living organisms.

The Proposed Academic Standards for Science and Technology, state the following Standard (3.3.12) Grade 12:

A. Explain the relationship between structure and function at all levels of organization.

Students view mathematics as isolated concepts. The objective of this Webquest is to promote higher order thinking skills in science in a non-laboratory method. Additionally, science is often viewed in mathematics curriculum into a broader scope. This will be accomplished by…

  1. examining the characteristics of an unknown organism

  2. determining its taxonomical relationship

  3. investigating the relationship between organisms

Be prepared to support students in the following areas during the project:

1. Explanation of Linnean classification system

2. Prepare a visual representation of their work
