Interactive Learning and Design |
This is a course in which you will learn to do two related things: research using the resources offered by the Internet and presenting the results of that research on the World Wide Web.
The first thing you need to do is get Web space on the PSU Personal server
where you can post your files. Here is where you apply:
Application for a Web Space Account
The class will begin with learning how to use the Web browser, the Web search engines and electronic access to Pattee Library using LIAS. During that time, the first three weeks, everyone will define a research topic and after the introduction begin their research.
While the research is beginning the class will learn about Hypertext Markup Language, HTML, and Cascading Style Sheets, CSS. Both of which you will be using to present the results of your research to others using your own Web site.As a first step toward this you will put up a personal Web site, a home page.
Publishing your work on the Web is a required part of the course, if you do not feel comfortable with that you should consider withdrawing from the class. Learning the computer, research and Web skills will take the first seven weeks of the course.
After that you will be doing research, publishing it on the Web and discussing
it with the other members of the class.
