My Surname File

This file is in the form of a tiny tafel. It contains a very large number of names. Obviously I know more about some of these than others. Some information I learned first hand and other information I got from the Mormon Family History Library Ancestral File. Presumably if you have gotten this far you know about the resources of the Mormon Church for genealogists. After the oldest members of your family, it may be the next most useful tool for a genealogists. I have always found them friendly and helpful. You do not need to be a Mormon to use the facilities and they o not try to convert you. The names in bold type are those about which I know quite a bit.

The tiny tafel file has the following elements.

  1. Soundex code: used by Census Bureau and others to remove the effects of spelling variations
  2. First date name is observed
