TERPENES
Isopentyl diphosphate (IPP) is the precursor for all terpenoids. Two pathways are responsible for the formation of IPP from pyruvate via a separate set of reactions in different locations. In the plastids, the non-mevalonate pathway occurs (top pathway), while the acetate/ mevalonate pathway takes place in the cytosol (bottom pathway).
