Please click on the links below to find out more about my current research projects.

The following research projects have been supported by the National Rotorcraft Technology Center under the Penn State Rotorcraft Center of Excellence (RCOE). Much of the equipment was purchased through a DURIP grant from the Army Research Office.

Carefree Maneuvering Control Laws for Rotorcraft

Simulation and Control of Shipboard Launch and Recovery Operations

Semi-Autonomous Quad-Rotor UAV's

Penn State Multi-Disciplinary Rotorcraft Flight Simulator (MDRFS)

Recently we have begun upgrading our simulator facilities thanks to some gifts from industry donors. Boeing Helicopters has donated a set of active controls hardware and Bell Helicopters recently donated their XV-15 simulation cab.

XV-15 Simulator Donated by Bell Helicopter

I have also been working on some projects supported by a Army Research Office MURI program on Complex System Failures. This MURI is under the direction of Dr. Asok Ray of the Penn State Mechanical Engineering Department.

Damage Mitigating Control of Rotorcraft

Probabilistic Robust Control of Rotorcraft

Discrete Event Supervisory Control of Complex Aerospace Systems

I have recently been working with Dr. Lyle Long and the Penn State Applied Research Laboratory on developing a UAV testbed for research in the area of intelligent control and coordination.

Intelligent Control and Coordination of Multiple UAV's

I have also been working with Piasecki Aircraft Corporation on a couple of different projects. Penn State has provided the flight dynamic modeling and analysis and support of flight control design for the YSH-60F/VTDP and UH-60L/VTDP compound helicopter programs.

Flight Control Law Optimization for a Compound Rotorcraft

In addition I have been working as a consultant for Piasecki on the Air Scout UAV program which was recently given a phase I award for the Future Combat System Class II UAV.
