Welcome!
This website provides information on my research, teaching, and service activity at Penn State. There is also some information on my background and on my students.

My Background I joined the Penn State Aerospace faculty in July 2000. My research and teaching have mainly been in the areas of flight dynamics and control. My research has primarily focused on rotorcraft applications. Prior to coming to Penn State I was a senior engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT, where I worked in the handling qualities group. I earned my Ph.D. from The Georgia Institute of Technology in Aerospace Engineering in 1999. I was also a project engineer for Piasecki Aircraft Corporation from 1992-1996. I received my B.S. and M.S. degrees from The University of Virginia. Please see my resume for more information. |
News Penn State wins VLRCOE Award: The U.S. Army renewed the Penn State Rotorcraft Center of Excellence for the period 2006 to 2010. Under the new award the centers are renamed the "Vetrical Lift and Rotorcraft Center of Excellence."
Bell donates XV-15 to PSU Rotorcraft Center: Bell Helicopter -Textron has recently donated the XV-15 simulator cab and software to Penn State. We will be using the simulator for our continuing research and educational programs in rotorcraft simulation and flight control design. The simulator cab and XV-15 flight dynamics model will be incorporated into the Penn State Multi-Disciplinary Rotorcraft Simulation Facility and will provide us the capability to investigate tilt-rotor aircraft. The system just arrived on September 12, 2005. Our thanks go out to the Bell Helicopter - Textron corporation for this gift. A special thanks to Steve Lewis and Mark Dreier at Bell for making it happen.

Congratulations to Dooyong and Dev! Dooyong Lee and Devendra Tolani have completed their doctoral degrees as of August 13, 2005. They are the first Ph.D. students to graduate under my advisement. Dooyong is currently working for Advanced Rotorcraft Technologies (ART) in Mountain View, CA. Dev is currently employed with
Intelligent Automation, Inc. in Rockville, MD.
Congratulations to Nilesh! :Nilesh Sahani completed his doctoral degree in aerospace engineering on December 2005. Nilesh is currently working for the Handling Qualities group at Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. (BHTI) in Ft. Worth, TX.
Opening for Graduate Students: I am currently in need of graduate students starting in the Spring or Fall semester of 2006. If you have a strong academic record and you are interested in the areas of rotorcraft flight dynamics and controls please submit an application to the Penn State Graduate School. I am especially interested in U.S. Citizens. |
