Climate Change:
An Encyclopedia of Science and History

ABC-CLIO (to be published in 2012)

Jennie Stephens, science editor
Gary Weisel, history editor

ABC-CLIO is pleased to announce the preparation of a major new reference set, Climate Change: An Encyclopedia of Science and History, under the editorship of Brian Black.

This four-volume set will include essays approaching climate change from a variety of angles, including public policy, scientific background, and historical context.  Our objective is to provide students and readers with a reliable introduction to important ideas and topics related to this issue, and also to give an impartial review of some of the controversy it has faced.  We expect the volumes to be a standard for reference libraries around the world.

This list of topics, for the HISTORY portion of the encyclopedia, includes biographies, scientific institutions, climate theories, climate data, and important political and cultural events.  Authors will be paid a modest honorarium. Feel free to suggest a topic that you believe we need to cover.  If you are interested in contributing one or more of these articles, then please contact:

Parenthetical notes offer a partial guide and are not exhaustive of the topic.  This list will be updated periodically.  Initials placed to the left of the word count indicates that the topic has been claimed (as of July 21, 2011)
