"My research interests are in pedology, landscape and watershed processes, land use, remote sensing, and geographic information systems. I counsel and advise graduate students and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. As Co-Director of the Office for Remote Sensing of Earth Resources, I develop and coordinate interdisciplinary projects involving intercollege personnel."

Principal Areas of Research Activity
  Research interests are in interpretive uses of soils, soil genesis and morphology, soil mapping, on-site waste
      disposal, soil-water relationships, remote sensing, geographic information systems, and land use.
  Research conducted within the Agronomy Department is in the areas of soil information systems, interpretive
      uses of soils, soil characterization, soil mapping, landscape modeling and on-site waste disposal.
  Co-founder of the Office for Remote Sensing of Earth Resources--an interdisciplinary group with the capability
      of participating in projects involving the use of remotely sensed data and geographic information systems.
      Personnel have been involved from fifteen departments within four colleges at Penn State University.
      Presently serving as Co-Director of this office.
  Leader of on-site waste disposal group at the Environmental Resources Research Institute to develop new and
      innovative methods for disposal of domestic wastes.
  Competitive Grants and Contracts - Principal or co-principal investigator for research grants and contracts that
      have totaled over nine million dollars. These funds have been obtained from over 25 different funding sources.
