Welcome to the . . .

It is a good idea it study the previous exam in a course before taking the real one. To get the most out of such study there are several recommendations. First, actually write out at least one essay from the exam (and if the exam features 2 types of essay questions, write out at least one of each type). Then go back to the course textbook and evaluate your essay using the criteria listed in the exam. For multiple-choice questions be sure to understand why each incorrect answer is incorrect. Many students are content only to figure out the correct response, but you will gain a much deeper understanding by studying all of the responses and figuring out which facts or concepts each possible answer addresses.
The exams here are in PDF format. In the unlikely event that your computer does not have a recent version of Adobe's PDF reader, you can install it from this site. As a rule, the exam you will see when you click on each link is the actual exam from the most recent time the course was previously offered. NOTE WELL: we never cover material at exactly the same pace (and the spacing of the exams will differ slightly from semester to semester), so you may have to look at an earlier and/or later exam to practice the full range of material for the one you are about to take.

<<Note well: specific topics, the pace of coverage, and assigned books vary from term to term--study accordingly.>>
<<Note: Large file. F07 exam #1 missing--replaced with F05 exam #1. Do not ask the instructor to supply the multiple-choice answers. Figure them out yourself, and if you have a genuine doubt about one or two items go ahead and ask about them specifically.>>
