Dr. John Fizel
Professor of Economics
Penn State Erie
School of Business

r. Fizel received his Ph.D. in economics from Michigan State University and joined the faculty at Penn Sate Erie in 1985. He has taught a wide variety of undergraduate courses, including Honors Economics, Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, Econometrics, and Managerial Economics. Currently, Fizel is part of the team that is developing and teaching the School of Business First-Year Seminar. He is also developing a course in Sports Economics. At the graduate level, Fizel has instructed a Managerial Economics course.

Dr. Fizel's research is equally diverse. His research includes such topics as economic education, industrial entry and exit, managerial compensation, organizational and labor efficiency, labor arbitration, mutual fund performance, health care, pricing policies, and government antitrust and regulation policies. His current passion is the study of professional and college sports.

Some of Fizel's consulting activities have involved economic loss determination, antitrust cases, health care reimbursement policy, salary determination for arbitration, pricing strategies, and economic development.
