Biography

Frouke de Quillettes sucessfully developed and established the Information Sciences and Technology program at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and while she served as the program head. Prior to this, she taught Management Information Systems and Computer Sciences courses at PSU Wilkes-Barre. In addition to teaching computing-related topics, Ms. De Quillettes has taught Dutch at SUNY Buffalo and holds her teaching certification in Elementary level Physics and Physical Education. An accomplished pianist, Frouke is also a certified piano teacher.

Ms. De Quillettes is fluent in Dutch and English, and can also speak German and French; additionally, she is familiar with American Sign Language (ASL). In her spare time, Frouke plays competitive badminton in the United States, Canada, and The Netherlands, and enjoys running, biking, hiking, and travel. She is also an active volunteer, donating her time to several worthy causes.

Undergraduate Research

  • 2015: fudory.com - a social media place for food lovers to share images (like pictures and/or short videos) of food and share experiences of the stories behind them. Even though, they have big competitors like Yelp, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, the judges saw a great potential in their endeavours to further pursue this project, because this social media is not cluttered with all other users' interests as the competitors are. Their creation is just "click and tell". Students: Dixit Patel, Thomas Walter, Nicholas Frushon (all IST) - Third Place at TecBridge's 2015 Entrepreneurship Institute.
  • 2015: musicbuff.com - a mobile merchandising application for local musicians to generate revenue and gain exposure. Students: Robert Carey, Joseph Demellier, Andrew Hill (all IST) - 2015 Undergraduate Exhibition
  • 2014: EZ VetNotes - a hands-free system for small and/or large animal veterinarians - Students: Ryan Kazokas (IST) and Nick Patel (CSE) - First Place at "The 12th Annual Great Valley Technology Alliance, Entrepreneurship Institute". Students turned their idea into a viable project. (Mobile App, Bluetooth, conversion speech to text, secure server side database)
  • 2014: EZ VetNotes - a hands-free system for small and/or large animal veterinarians - Students: Ryan Kazokas (IST) and Nick Patel (CSE) - Second Place in the IST category at "The 2014 Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Fair" at Penn State Worthington Scranton. Students showcased their research project. (Mobile App, Bluetooth, conversion speech to text, secure server side database)
  • 2013: ASIT - Accountability for Students in Transit - Students: Harriet Polites (IST), Tyler Kerlavage (IST), and Brendan Rinehimer (EET) - First Place at "The 11th Annual Great Valley Technology Alliance, Entrepreneurship Institute".   • 2011: Making the connection between an RFID Reader and Database for Camera Checkout - Students: Suxia Chen (IST) and Craig Simko (IST) - Honorable Mention at "The 2011 Penn State Lehigh Valley Undergraduate Research Symposium". Students showcased their research project. (RFID)
