Starboard side at the stern.  Canoe sterned boats are slower than their transom sterned sisters, but not by much assuming boats of the same proportions.  Canoe sterned boat are also a little more sea kindly than transom sterned boats, but again not by much.  However, there is something about the symmetrical ends and that sharp stern slipping through the water......
