Paintball

My rig is a Tippmann98 with a Flatliner barrel.  It's custom camo painted by yours truly.  Used a Paasche airbrush to do the job.  Turned out nicer than I expected it would.  I'll have to redo it eventually though because I neglected to clear coat it and I'm losing some paint due to wear and tear mostly at rub points.  Basically the same guys who fly R/C also play paintball.  The field we usually play on is in the woods only a couple of hundred yards away from the flight field.  We're a motley crew of paintballers and don't play nearly as much as we'd like.  Got our own fill station and all shoot CO2.  No fancy HPA or Nitrogen rigs . . . yet!

Paintball, for me, has a history similar to flying R/C.  I first played in the mid-1980's and then got away from it for over 10 years.  Got back into it because Dave McCloskey, my neighbor, was interested.  Didn't take long to hook a few more guys and before we knew what was happening we all had new equipment.

One of my most memorable games was when we were just getting back into playing and Dave broke from cover to dart across a very open area into my direct line of fire.  He was running, yelling, and firing from the hip and then fell to the ground clutching his crotch.  As it turned out, I connected perfectly with the tip of a sensitive protrusion in his nether region.  He was in sheer agony for a few minutes and then just moaned the rest of the day.  I actually got a phone call from him that night describing the swelling and bruising but we won't get into that.  Dave now ALWAYS wears a cup while playing.  I also purchased one but don't wear it all the time.  I'll probably pay for that someday!
