Lightgate Proof-of-concept Test
Goals:
- First lamp firing - initial burn-in.
- Verify size of rough iris cutout.
- Crude check of thermal characteristics.
Pictures:
The lightgate.

Ratty cheesecloth suspended appropriate distance from lamp
arc with LCD size marked in black. Test iris consisted of a piece of
aluminum foil with a guesstimated cutout.

Conclusions/Notes:
- Initial burn ~2 hours.
- Color change obvious during first few minutes.
- Brightness increase dramatic.
- Put baffles alongside lamp arc to keep sides of
lightgate cooler.
- Size permanent lid iris slightly smaller than test
cutout.
