RPM 300W - Tourism and Leisure Behavior


This course prepares students to develop their own answers to the following question: Is tourism good or bad for tourists, host communities and the world?

The course helps students understand the complex interaction between tourists, providers, governing organizations, and host residents to help them become successful agents of positive change in the tourism industry.

 

RPM 410 - Marketing of Recreation Services

 

This course has the purpose of preparing students with the most current marketing knowledge to help them
achieve commercial success in developing and delivering recreation services.
The course is targeted to junior and senior students of Recreation and Park Management (5th semester prerequisite).
 

LEST 597 - Foundations of Tourism

 

This course provides an overview of theoretical issues impacting the tourism field. The course is influenced by the current sustainable development paradigm. Therefore the underlying theme in our discussions will be the ways in which host communities react to challenges and opportunities posed by tourism.

The course is recommended for all RPTM graduate students. The course will also be appropriate for graduate students in other departments with an interest in tourism. Particularly, students in Business Administration, Forestry, Geography, and Rural Sociology, have found the course valuable.
