Tibet's evolving strategy for independence over the past century has at critical points relied upon negotiating with external powers (like China, Great Britain, India and the United States).  Using at least three examples from Tibetan Revolutionary and Shadow Circus (a minimum of one from each), discuss how and why  the relationship with each of these powers has helped or hindered Tibet's path towards independence.
