Instructions:  Your essay should be thoughtfully constructed and display more than a superficial level of analysis.  You will be allowed to write on the bottom and backside of this sheet but NO other additional space will be provided or accepted.  Specific examples to support your analysis is expected (this does not mean simply describing the scenes but also explicitly revealing the meaning).

1.  Tibet is often described in overly broad strokes in order to portray a heavily stylized notion of Tibetan culture, life and religion.  Using scenes from Lost Horizon, Seven Years in Tibet, Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion and The Life of Milarepa select two examples in which you feel  Tibet is commonly mischaracterized, discuss why you believe it has been presented in this way, and critique why you feel it is inaccurate.
