RESEARCH: Tibetan Muslims

Most recently, my research has focused on the Tibetan Muslims based on multi-lingual sources, archives and interviews across six countries and three continents. I've published several essays and articles on this topic that have appeared in Journal of Asian Studies, Cahiers d’Extrême Asie, and Himalaya. The monograph, Islamic Shangri-La: Tibetan Muslims and the Himalayan World, 1600-1960 is currently under review for publication at a top university press. .

Based on three years of research and interviews my study of Tibetan Muslims focuses on the themes of transregionalism, competing geographies and multiple identities within their communities. [More]
