Course Description:  CHEM 497 is a course designation which represents courses that allow faculty members to exhibit their areas of specialty.  This 3-credit course focuses upon the major classifications of polymers, their synthesis routes, physical and chemical properties, characterization, and applications.  Special emphases will be placed upon polymers and their use in bio-applications such as drug delivery systems, synthetic organs, microencapsulating of cells, and other areas of current interest both commercially and in fundamental research.
