Course Description: CHEM 111 is a
one-credit
introductory general chemistry laboratory. It is designed to
complement
the lecture course CHEM 110. The students are introduced to
laboratory
safety and good experimental technique, how to keep a proper laboratory
notebook,
interpret data, and write a formal report. The course introduces
laboratory
experimentation in the context of a variety of specific topics, such as
reactions
in solutions, spectroscopy, chemistry of natural waters, acids and
bases,
and the synthesis and analysis of chemical compounds.
