Job Responsibilities:
Programming Group Manager Supervision of programming staff for software development projects. Lead technical programmer, designer and system architect for projects. Experienced with RFP response and proposal authoring, marketing development and translating client needs to quantifiable work tasks. Point person for client interaction and support. Advised GIS group on new technologies and their implementation. Facilitated hiring of new programming staff through resume review and interviewing. Organizer of monthly GIS group training sessions.
Senior GIS Analyst/Programmer Highly experienced with the development of front, middle and backend components for spatially enabled web and desktop applications. Extensive experience with source code authoring and maintenance, database design and development, application deployment, documentation and support, and mentoring of co-workers. Serve as departmental Database Administrator (DBA).
Selected Key Projects:
Exelon Power Information System (EPIS) Converted legacy MS Access system to MS SQL Server backend system. Coordinated and implemented programmatic front end changes (over 10,000 lines of source code). Performed post rollout QA/QC, system documentation, and project review for management
MS Access to SQL Server Migration Implemented transfer of 2gb of data stored in MS Access .mdb format to MS SQL Server. Developed DTS packages and T-SQL to automate import tasks. Implemented MS Access front end changes. Performed post rollout QA/QC. First person in GIS group to implement MS SQL Server for production data.
Erie County GIS Needs Assessment Review Provided viability and relevancy review of a needs assessment submitted to Erie County, NY
ArcObjects Development - Various Created several DLL-based extensions for ArcGIS used to supplement GIS activities on various projects. Projects implemented the EsriCore Object library to communicate with ArcGIS. The following is a summary of some of the extensions created:
COGO Tools: This is a lightweight utility that allows the user to enter coordinate geometry (degrees, minutes, seconds, direction, and distance) values into an easy to use interface and plot the coordinates as either line or polygon graphics on screen.
Profile Extractor: The Profile Extractor (PE) was developed to assist
the creation of profiles for habitat studies. PE takes a 3D polyline and
reads the lines Z-axis coordinates so they can be plotted in profile view. In
addition, PE can apply a scale exaggeration factor to the resultant X and Y
axis. A water level value can also be entered to calculate the areas of water
that the profile area encompasses. Water Level Viewer: The Water Level Viewer (WLV) was developed to assist a study of water levels in a reservoir over a ten year time period. WLV allows the user to view the water level of the reservoir based on an entered date and time. WLV then queries a database containing hourly water elevation data and adds a water level shapefile to ArcGIS that represents the water elevation of the entered time.
Erie County Emergency Response Application Lead programmer for development of an emergency response application that allows chemical plume “footprint” geometry generated by EPA ALOHA application to be imported into ArcView 3.x and ArcGIS in real-time, and generates a summary report of user defined features that will be effected by the plume. Emergency Response Application offers the following benefits: assessment of areas effected by a disaster, street routing of emergency response vehicles, real time reporting of conditions during an emergency event, and consolidation of different data for decision makers.
GIS Right-of-Way Management Application Lead programmer and software architect for custom desktop GIS software application. Application is a client/sever enabled application that allows the end user to manage, view, and create utility corridor information derived from Spatial Database Engine (SDE) data layers and Oracle data tables. Application was designed as well for export and synchronization of remote data with source data layers. The application utilizes DAO, ADO, and is primarily based on Map Objects GIS technology. Developed software and training documentation for application.
City of Buffalo Street Lighting Application Lead programmer and designer of application developed to work in conjunction with the Metadata Browser. Provided City DPW staff with access to streetlight GIS and tabular data sets developed by URS. Application creates work orders, provides custom identification tools for resource identification, and offers map printing and full reporting capabilities. Developed software documentation for application and provided hands-on classroom training.
Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Electric Utilities Application Lead programmer and designer of application developed to allow Jamestown Board of Utilities (BPU) staff to enter information for all aspects of electrical utility entities. This program was developed as ArcObjects extension to ArcGIS. Users can enter information about Electrical Lines, Street Lights, Electrical Transformers, and Service point connections. The program also allows for related imagery to be cataloged along with attribute information.
Remote Data for Treatment Plan Lead programmer and designer of application that allows for both spatial and non-spatial data sets from a selected area to be exported from SDE format to shapefile format and loaded onto laptop computers. These exported shapefile data sets are keep synchronized with the SDE records. Data can then be collected in the field and stored on the laptop. Upon return, field data is then uploaded to the SDE servers. All record operations conducted such as adding new records, deleting records, and record changes are managed between the field data and the SDE source data. Developed software documentation for application and provided hands-on class room training.
