| People ask what happens to the layout in the winter.
This is what it looked like in January, 1996, after a total of 25 inches
of snow had fallen on the track, buildings, and landscaping. |
First thing that Anabeth did after Chuck laid some track was to make several
miniature quilts. |

|
| The paper origami box lasted in the layout for two months during
summer 1996 before beginning to fade. |
Houses in the town of Cicmany in the Slovak Republic are
decorated on the outside. In the summertime, all have geraniums in the windows.
This model is made of styrofoam. |
The town of Straznice is on the eastern edge of the Czech Republic. It has a
beautifully painted train station. The model is styrofoam, with Precision Products
roof and windows.
The original pavilion is pictured in a Sunset book on patios. The model is plastic, with
columns from the cake decorating department of a craft shop.
The furniture is made from plastic pipe from the model train shop and is based on ideas
in The Scale Cabinetmaker.
Two views of an English pub that Chuck made from jigstones, using a design from Linda Spencer. The
roof is styrofoam; the doors are plastic; window frames are cut from garden plant trays.
The Welsh house. Chuck designed and built this jigstone house and installed the windows.
Anabeth put in the doors, made the roof from styrofoam, and then painted the building.
Both of the jigstone buildings stay outside all winter.
