When my husband began constructing our
garden railway in 1995, my job was to do the landscaping. However, before I put in many plants, I stitched several little quilts to hang on a clothesline.
The quilts range in size from 2.5 inches square to 4 inches square. |
| After several years, there is some greenery in the garden railway. I machine-pieced and hand-quilted a couple of little Amish-style quilts to add to the collection. |

I made the quilts from that heavy fabric that's supposed to last in the sun. When Phipps tore down the railway in late 2008, the quilts were still in good shape, even though dirty. |
