Meeting minutes from the meeting held 3/7/06 were approved.
Treasurer’s report – George Gurney presented the treasurer’s report. The report was approved by the club members.
Old Business –
Storage Shed issue. Due to the lack of buyers and the need to move it, the officers decided to move the shed to the new field. The shed was moved for $180.
Frequency board is ready to be setup. We are just waiting for at least 3 days of warm weather for the concrete to set. A team of people will be needed to install the board. (UPDATE: It’s up and looks great!)
A discussion was held on developing a portable board. It was decided to leave the board as per the original plan.
For the Air Show we have an issue about parking. The farmer will be planting in the field north of the first red barrel and that may cause an issue of where to park cars. We will be looking into where cars can be parked for the Airshow. The date for the Airshow will be Sunday, Aug 13.
New Business –
The EAA Breakfast will be Oct 7th. Bob Grove asked our organization to help with cooking. George will contact Bob and get more information as to what is needed.
Fun Fly with guests will be held June 11th. That date may change due to a conflict with Altoona Fun Fly.
Fun Fly without guests will be held July 16th.
A discussion will be held on using a radio as an alert for private aircraft coming in and out. Woody will bring his radio and we will try it.
The Penn State R/C Club asked to use our field to fly. A discussion was held on the topic. A motion was put forth to make sure they have an AMA membership/ Student ID and they will be instructed to Fly with an SCRC club member on the first flight. Also, a $50 membership fee will be required for the club for a Calendar year. Motion was approved.
Al brought up the idea to get weather data at the site. Henry and Al will be working to find a system that can be used at the field.
George Mock brought up the idea of a having a frequency checker for the site.
Program –
Al Jones was to present a talk on the different types of adhesives used in our hobby, but it was postponed due to the long meeting.
Announcements –
Our Safety Officer, Hugh Zinsmeister will present a review the club safety rules next month.
Show and Tell –
Al Niessner showed his servo checker which can be set to cycle a servo at various speeds to find defects before they bring down your aircraft!
Ron Angle brought his electric helicopter which uses a brushless motor and a 4000 mAh Li-Po battery for long flights and crisp performance!
Eric Marsh brought a box with a Hitec Focus radio plus another transmitter and a speed control and gave it away to anyone who wanted it! There were no takers for a while, so I took it home. (UPDATE : The radio works fine. I have it in my slope soarer. Thanks, Eric!)
Woody Struble won the 50-50 raffle.
The Meeting was adjourned at 9 pm.
