2.      Treasures report – George Gurney presented the treasures report. The report was approved.

3.      Old Business –

a.     Fun fly conflict date with Altoona Fun Fly. A motion was made to have the SCRC Fun Fly on June 25th. Motion was approved.

c.     Flying site – all that is left to do is the clean up around the posts.

d.     EAA fly-in will be Oct 8th – All we need to do is show-up and help out.

e.     Radio monitor. Woody Struble tried it but did not get anything from the airport.

4.      New Business –

a.     Bob Grove sent us some notes on the field. A summary of the notes.

 i.      Mowing – The pilots mow the field and he asked if one of our members can help mow the field. Also, during the mowing of the field, we do not fly low passes.

ii.      Water and soda are available for 75 cents. The profits go to gas and oil for mowing the field.

iii.      EAA fly in is Oct 8th.

iv.      If you fine something broken in the office like the toilets or refrigerator, please post a note on the bulletin board.

  v.      May 16th, Bob would like a few of us to show a selection of models at EAA chapter meeting between 6:30pm and 7:30pm that evening. (Update – Woody Struble, Nathaniel Rice and I went and flew models there. It was windy and spitting rain, but we managed several good flights. Nathaniel amazed the EAA guys with his aerobatic heli flying. Some of them had never seen model helicopters before. Someone said my Daydreamer parasol resembled a Pietenpol Air Camper homebuilt design. He’s right – The Pietenpol was the main inspiration for that design.)

vi.      If SCRC club members would like get in some full scale flying, he is willing to take them up for $20 per hour.

b.     Civil Air Patrol – They will be moving into the office at the field within the next two weeks.

 i.      They are working on having a speaker for the Unicom system so you can listen to the pilots of planes coming in or out.

ii.      They will have a diagram of the airport traffic pattern and runway markers so the club members can become familiar with the traffic pattern normally flown by the full size aircraft.

iii.      They can not put in a DSL line, but are talking to Adelphia about a cable modem solution. We can also look into using wireless which Henry will determine pricing.

c.     George Gurney said that we have valid insurance to fly at the field.

d.     George also said he has SCRC decals to iron on shirts. George has information on where you can get the patches ironed on.

e.     Mr. Garbrick would like us to paint the roller or cover it up. Woody will get a tarp for the roller to cover it up.

5.      George asked that we send a donation to Don Underwood’s family after his passing Sunday. Motion was put forth to send flowers in the amount of his dues or a contribution. Motion was approved.

Hugh Zinsmeister presented a list of field rules:

1.   Check your airplanes. Look for loose parts, damage from hard landings, etc.

2.   Place labels on your airplane in case you lose one. (George Gurney has labels for sale – 5 for $1.00)

3. Be very careful with li-po batteries. Do not charge them unattended.

4. Don’t put your gear beyond the pilot stations.

5. Be careful where you fly. One home is over the hill on the right, and one is over to the left of the hill.

6.  Full Scale aircraft have the right of way – always! If one is coming in, you should land your model. Put your plane in the ground if a serious conflict arises.

7. Helicopters fly to the left in the hover area.

8.  Make sure to take your AMA card off the board when you are finished with your flight.

9.  Do not fly over the pit area.

10. No high speed passes over the runway. You can go over the field on the opposite side of the runway.

11. Watch for cards falling through the slots on the frequency board. Al offered to fix the problem.

12.  No one can take off from the flight stations. You must taxi out first and check for other airplanes.

6. Program –

a.   Chuck Paulson presented a program on digital spread spectrum radios by Horizon Hobby. A handout was given. Please see Chuck for a copy. This technology has the potential to eliminate radio interference forever!

7.  Announcements –

a. Meetings through September will be held at the flying field.

8.  Show and Tell –

a. I showed my Daydreamer parasol wing plane now equipped with a brushless motor and speed controller I got from Ebay for $35. (Update – I’ve had several nice flights with a very efficient 9-6 prop. It climbs out easily at 2/3 throttle, and cruises around at ˝ throttle. Flight times are about 8 minutes, compared to 5 minutes with the old Speed 400. Sweet!)

b.  George Mock presented his Astro Flight Blinky. The Blinky will help to balance the cells in your LiPo battery. See George for additional info.

George Gurney spilt the 50/50.

The Meeting was adjourned at 9pm.
