| Monthly meeting are generally held the first Tuesday of each month with exceptions caused by holidays, etc. During the summer months, the meetings are held at the club's flying site. All other meetings are held at the Central Pa. Institute of Science & Technology, (formerly known as the Centre County VoTech School) in Pleasant Gap. The meetings start promptly at 7:00 p.m. |

The May Meeting
1. Meeting minutes from the meeting held
2. Treasures report – George Gurney presented the treasures report. The report was
approved.
3. Old Business –
a. Fun fly conflict date with Altoona Fun
Fly. A motion was made to have the SCRC Fun Fly on June 25th. Motion was
approved.
b. George Mock presented a checklist for
the fun fly.
c. Flying site – all that is left to do is
the clean up around the posts.
d. EAA fly-in will be Oct 8th – All we need
to do is show-up and help out.
e. Radio monitor. Woody Struble tried it but did not get anything from the airport.
4. New Business –
a. Bob Grove sent us some notes on the
field. A summary of the notes.
i. Mowing – The pilots mow the field and he
asked if one of our members can help mow the field. Also, during the mowing of
the field, we do not fly low passes.
ii.
Water and soda are available for 75 cents. The profits go to gas and oil
for mowing the field.
iii.
EAA fly in is Oct 8th.
iv.
If you fine something broken in the office like the toilets or
refrigerator, please post a note on the bulletin board.
v. May 16th, Bob would like a few of
us to show a selection of models at EAA chapter meeting between
vi.
If SCRC club members would like get in some full scale flying, he is
willing to take them up for $20 per hour.
b. Civil Air Patrol – They will be moving
into the office at the field within the next two weeks.
i. They are working on having a speaker for
the Unicom system so you can listen to the pilots of planes coming in or out.
ii.
They will have a diagram of the airport traffic pattern and runway
markers so the club members can become familiar with the traffic pattern
normally flown by the full size aircraft.
iii. They can not put in a DSL line, but are
talking to Adelphia about a cable modem solution. We can also look into using
wireless which Henry will determine pricing.
c. George Gurney said that we have valid insurance
to fly at the field.
d. George also said he has SCRC decals to
iron on shirts. George has information on where you can get the patches ironed
on.
e. Mr. Garbrick would like us to paint the
roller or cover it up. Woody will get a tarp for the roller to cover it up.
5. George asked that we send a donation to Don Underwood’s family after his
passing Sunday. Motion was put forth to send flowers in the amount of his dues
or a contribution. Motion was approved.
Hugh Zinsmeister presented a list of field
rules:
1. Check your airplanes. Look for loose parts, damage
from hard landings, etc.
2. Place labels on your airplane in case you
lose one. (George Gurney has labels for
sale – 5 for $1.00)
3. Be
very careful with li-po batteries. Do not charge them
unattended.
4. Don’t put your gear
beyond the pilot stations.
5. Be careful where you fly. One home is over the hill on the
right, and one is over to the left of the hill.
6. Full Scale aircraft have the right of way –
always! If one is coming in, you should land your model. Put your plane in the
ground if a serious conflict arises.
7. Helicopters fly to the
left in the hover area.
8. Make sure to take your AMA card off the board
when you are finished with your flight.
9. Do not fly over the pit area.
10. No high speed passes over the runway. You can go over the
field on the opposite side of the runway.
11. Watch for cards falling through the slots on the frequency
board. Al offered to fix the problem.
12. No one can take off
from the flight stations. You must taxi out first and check for other airplanes.

Program –
a. Chuck
Paulson presented a program on digital spread spectrum radios by Horizon
Hobby. A handout was given. Please see Chuck for a copy. This technology has
the potential to eliminate radio interference forever!
7. Announcements –
a.
Meetings through September will be held at the flying field.
8. Show and Tell –
a. I showed my Daydreamer
parasol wing plane now equipped with a brushless motor and speed controller I
got from Ebay for $35. (Update – I’ve had several nice flights with a very efficient 9-6
prop. It climbs out easily at 2/3 throttle, and cruises around at ˝ throttle.
Flight times are about 8 minutes, compared to 5 minutes with the old Speed 400.
Sweet!)
b. George Mock presented his Astro Flight Blinky. The Blinky will help to
balance the cells in your LiPo battery. See George for additional info.
George Gurney spilt the 50/50.

Scale air show at Willow Grove Naval Air Station – June 17 & 18. The USAF Thunderbirds will be there plus
numerous aerobatic performers.
Our Fun Fly/ Picnic – Sunday, June 25.
