Indoor Flying Activities

Move Ahead to 2009

Until late 2006 and early 2007, there has been little opportunity to have coordinated indoor flying activities in or near the State College Area.  Thanks to Ron Angle, this has all changed.  He has pursued the use of the STN Dome near Williamsport for this activity.  The following photos were taken in the Dome to show the size of the facility.

When the STN Dome management was contacted, they were very receptive to having the model aircraft flying activity in the Dome.  The following photos and videos show the first model activities in the Dome.

Jump ahead to 2009

A great deal has happened at the Dome since its opening in late 2006 and early 2007.  Anthony S. Minnella, President of the Muncy Indoor Flyers (AMA Charter # 4762), has done a fantastic job of organizing the Club and making the Dome the center of indoor flying in northeast Pennsylvania.  See the Club web site at: www.muncyindoorflyers.org.

The most recent event has been the Keystone Indoor Electric Fly (KIEF).  Read about it at:
www.pafunfly.com.

The 2009 KIEF event had double the number of registered pilots as 2008.  Photos from Sam Stitzer can be viewed at: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1136473.  Thanks Sam for the first hand look at this fine event.
