Indoor Flying Activities |
And a bit of indoor flying history
In the past, here in central Pennsylvania, we have been limited to flying outdoors. Spring, Summer, and Fall have, in general, not been much of a problem. Winter however, does become very uncomfortable as can be seen from this New Years Day 2010 photo!
However, in the recent past, the model industry has used the move to electric powered model aircraft to bring many models to the market that are capable of flying indoors.
In addition, there have been a number of air supported indoor sports complexes. One that has been advertised as the largest in the country has been built near Muncy, Pa. Ron Angle who, at the time, was a member of SCRC joined forces with several R/C modelers from Muncy to contact the Dome owners and set up a flying session in late 2006. This led to a great indoor facility for R/C use.

In an effort to locate a facility in The State College Area, a number of indoor sites were considered. Due to the efforts of Joe Weiber, one of the Club's members, a Club activity was established where indoor flying can be done at Our Lady of Victory School Gym.
