Flying at Garbrick Airport

January 12th 2006

Trial flying had started in early January as part of SCRC's search for a new flying site.  Being early January in central Pennsylvania, it had not been a good time to go flying!  Suddenly, spring arrived for a few short days!  A group of Club members took advantage of this break and met at Garbrick's airport to fly.  The temperature was in the high 50s and low 60s.  The following photos taken by George Mock give an idea of the flying activity and different views of the area.

Jack Garbrick, the person with the dark glasses sitting on the tailgate is conferring with Bob Grove and some of the Club members. George Gurney (Left) and Woody Struble (Right) getting an early start with the flying.  This is a view looking to the West end of the runway.
George Mock's electric powered Ellie Belle (the Funster, a low wing Telemaster)  waiting for the full size Cessna to clear the area before taking off.  This view is looking toward the East end of the runway. Woody Struble, with the help of Al Jones and Curt Buergin, is flying near the center of the runway.
