The 2006 SCRC Airshow was a great success.  A better day for an R/C Airshow would be hard to find.  It was a beautiful day for an airshow, sunny, mild temperatures and very low winds.  Before we look at pictures from the day of the show, lets look at the events from the day before the airshow.

Both the Centre Daily Times (CDT) and TV Channel 10 had personnel at the Airshow.  Channel 10 had a brief comment and video on Sunday evening's report.  Unfortunately, we have no recording of the video.  The CDT had two photos from the Airshow on the front page of Section B, On Centre.  To see these and several other photos from the CDT web site,

As with past SCRC Airshows, Roy Long, Commander of Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Flight 338, has a large number of photos from the Airshow on his web site.  Go to http://338.gp5.pawg.cap.gov/gallery/scrc06 to view the photos.

Roy's Flight 338 makes Garbrick Airport their home.  Several of the photos on the above web site show the CAP members in action.  They served a valuable service for the Club by managing the visitor parking.  Thanks Roy and your Cadets.

Al Niessner, the Club's webmaster, took a short break to take the following photos that give a sampling of the Airshow planes.

Note:  Click on a thumbnail below to see more detail.  The enlarger photo can be expanded further to see the full size photo.

Henry Margusity with his fleet of 7 airplanes.  Brian Julius is on his knees preparing one of his models for flight.  Note the line of spectators starting to build! More of Henry's and Brian's aircraft. The pit area was located to the right (north west) of the announcer's stand.
A beautiful Chipmunk, a model of the plane flown in International aerobatic competition by Art Scholl. Henry Loewen's 120 inch wingspan Sailaire glider dominates this photo.  Several of Al Niessner's airplanes are behind the Sailaire.  Woody Struble is on the flight line getting in one of his flights. George Gurney, on the left, is preparing the Sonic Cruiser bungee launcher.  George's airplanes are in the foreground with Woody Struble's airplanes are on down the flight line.
George did get the launcher ready before it was his turn to fly.  Woody and Paul Bittengle are still trying to get Paul's Mud Duck's engine to run. Al Niessner's Slow Poke sitting in front of the announcer's stand waiting for his turn to fly! A good view of the Club member's tents lined up.  They did provide shade for the pilots and spectators.

And when it was all over, the spectators and Club members alike thought it was a great Airshow.
