The following is taken from the September SCRC Newsletter:

Sunday, August 12 dawned cloudy and humid, actually a relief after the previous week of record-breaking heat. Our Air Show started at 2:00, with a large crowd in attendance. A wide variety of model aircraft took to the air to show the spectators the full spectrum of our hobby. There were too many to mention them all.

SCRC thanks all the participants greatly for your help in continuing our air show tradition! The photos that follow are an attempt to capture the quality of the 2001 SCRC Air Show.

(translation - my memory is fading!), but a few standouts were:

Jeff Favuzza's P-40 dropping bombs (glad we had the safety fence!), and his CAP 232
performing scale-like aerobatics.

Woody's flying stop sign, a perennial favorite, amazing the crowd by hovering over the runway.
His crop duster was big hit, too, until it made a big hit in the weeds! It was the only casualty of the
day.

Group flying of three electric sailplanes, and later four Soarstars.

Jon Polay making high speed fly-bys with simulated jet fighter model.

Peter Spinks Playboy electric climbing straight up on brushless motor power, then leveling off
into a slow, flat glide down.

Henry Loewen, flying his Giant Aeromaster in spite of having just made a trip to the hospital
emergency room for seven stitches in his arm. I didn't see his mishap, but suffice it to say that
large propellers can bite you hard!

A little rain fell during the show, but not enough to scare away the crowd.

The show was a success once again, thanks to the great efforts of many club members. Al
Jones, Mark Wharton, all the show performers, Chef Harry Anderson, the Zinsmeisters,
and many more --
