August 13th of the year 2000 was a fine day for an air show. The temperature
reached a high of only 78 degrees. The sky was cloudy with no rain and only a trace
of precipitation in the State College area. Following are photos from the Centre
Daily Times and photos contributed by SCRC members. There were more airplanes and
pilots than time allowed for everyone to fly demonstrations.
The show was well attended by people with model aircraft interests as can be seen from
the following photos provided by Fred Knoffsinger and Bill Hatchner.

Everyone had a clear, close up view of the pilots and
their airplanes. Comfort was a key ingredient in enjoying the flight demonstrations. |

The flight line and interested spectators just seemed
to go on forever! |

Here are some close-ups of a small sampling of the models on display and used in the
flight demonstrations.

Jon Polay's model of a more modern fighter
aircraft. It looks like it should be a fine flying aircraft. How about that
Jon? |

that look and fly great. |

The top picture is Henry Loewen's Extra 300 S taking off (that is the one
that crashed later that day) and the lower picture is Henry's Morrisey Bravo coming in to
land. The photos were taken by Henry's son Phil. Henry sent the scanned photos
to the webmaster with a note that "I'm sending them anyway, just to get practice
using the scanner". Good job with the planes, photos, and scanner. |

On August 14th, two photos taken at the Air Show, were presented by the Centre Daily
Times. Here is a copy of the pictures along with caption describing the action.

Thanks go to the Centre Daily Times for giving the SCRC Air Show this exposure to the
general public. We hope that other people interested in model aircraft, especially
the younger generation, will have seen these photos and will make contact with the club.
