August 10 was a beautiful day for an air show! Sunny and warm with light
winds and thermals. A wide variety of model types were flown - trainers, gliders, sport
& aerobatic ships, beautiful scale models, and the flying stop sign. The stop sign
made a rather abrupt stop when it nosed into the ground! The glider towing demonstration
went haywire when the wind flipped the sailplane over on the runway, but Dave Lucas's Bird
of Time zoomed up on the high start into some monster thermals and stayed up there for a
long time. The pilots that fly the R/C aircraft for the spectators' enjoyment are
shown here at the final briefing just before the show begins. <= Click on the picture to see the full size version Sam Stitzer, the SCRC announcer, giving the public up to the minute, blow
by blow, accounts of the activities. Click on the picture to see the full size version => And then there's the all important food concession manned by no other than
Bernie, Al Jones and his wife. <= Click on the picture to see the full size version And lets
not forget the Radio Controlled Models! Click on a thumbnail photo to see it full size That's all until next year -- Air Show 1998

We had a good size crowd of spectators, and several of them tried their hand on a Kadet
Senior with a trainer cord. I think we may get some new members from this experience.
Many thanks to all who helped make this a successful event. It was a great event, and the
crowd loved it!!
