Innovative Technologies
There is a variety of ways and tools technology provides to facilitate interaction, involvement, and creativity in a class.
Discussion forums, emails, drop boxes, and calendar event announcements are some of the tools that promote communication among students and between students and their teacher.
Here you have a sample of a discussion forum among students:

This tool is very useful espacially when giving a long distance course, when students have very few opportunities to meet in a classroom. When they actually meet, if they have communicated through this electronic forum, they tend to interact and discuss ideas as if they had known each other for ages.
And here there is an example of an email sent to the entire group:

Email communication is extremely useful to remind people of bringing assignments, or letting them know of unexpected changes. Such communication could be one way only, from profesor to Students or vice versa, or two way communication when there is actual and consistent dialogue through this tool.
Another extremely appealing tool for classes is the use of links to videos and audio. The following is a sample of a link to You Tube. Click anywhere on the image to view the video on YouTube:

This tool tends to wake up students, motivate them, and involve them in the topic of any given lesson. It can also be inserted into a colorful powerpoint presentation.
