Unlike the other two social networks that I talked about, I felt more connected and more interested in this site I found called MiGente. Hopefully you can tell that it means "my people" in Spanish. This site connects Latinos all over the world together through this one site, though it is pointed towards a Hispanic community, I remember reading somewhere when I signed up that the site is also for anybody who is interested in finding out about the Latino community so if your not Latino, but interested in finding out first hand about Latinos, you can easily join and start talking with anyone on the site. The way a user is able to communicate with other users is quite simple because it is like any other social network site. One simply types in a friend's name and click search, and hope that there aren't a lot of Ricky Martin's out there. Also, to help narrow your search you can find members by age, gender, state/city, zip code, and country. Also, if you want to find someone in your school, they have that option as well. Interaction activities users have are mini sections like Rate Me, Chats, Style, Forums, Secret Admirer, Dating, Jobs, and Professionals. Most of these are self-explanatory - Chats, Forums, Dating, and Jobs. Rate Me is a part of the website where people put up photos of themselves and leave it up to their fellow members to rate their photo from a 1(yikes) to a 10(superhot). I personally love this because some of the comments are laugh out loud/piss in your pants funny. But thats my take on it. Style is a place where FordModels recognizes users that have a bit of a model in them, from what I understood. And last but not least, Professionals is a site for users to show others what career they are in and a place to find friends or acquaintances in people of the same profession as others. I really enjoy going on this site. Not just because I'm Latino, but it has fun features, and just a reminder, it isn't just for Latinos, it is for everybody.
